Blackbird is a Utah design-build and development company. For more than 25 years, Danny Bird has taken projects from the first idea through design, budget, permits, and construction. Experienced enough to see the whole project, personal enough to stay involved.
Who you are hiring
A good project takes more than finding subcontractors and holding a schedule. It takes understanding the whole thing. Blackbird looks at construction the way a builder, a designer, an estimator, a developer, and an owner would, because Danny has worked from all of those seats.
That means the questions that matter get asked early, while they are still cheap to answer. Can it be built for the budget? Is there a smarter way to design it? Where is money being wasted, and where should it not be saved? Are the plans actually buildable? Those conversations happen up front, instead of showing up later as change orders in the field. And the person asking them is the person who runs the job, so you are never handed from a salesperson to an estimator to someone you have never met.
How Blackbird works
Any builder can list good habits. These are the ones that cost us something, which is how you can tell they are real.
You find out what it costs while changing it is still free. The cost to us is that the first call is longer and less exciting than a pretty picture.
You call Danny, not a queue. The cost to us is a hard limit on how many jobs can run at the same time.
If you change something mid-job, you see the price and say yes before we build it. The cost to us is that we cannot quietly add work and bill you for it later.
If the budget and the plan cannot meet, we say so. We will not take the job and then cheapen it piece by piece until it fits. The cost to us is the job.
What Danny has built
Danny started in construction in 2001 and has spent more than two decades running projects across Utah. That range is what lets Blackbird read a project clearly, both on paper and on the jobsite.
How the work breaks down
Almost everything we take on is one of these three. It is also how the rest of the site is organized.
You have an idea, a lot, a sketch, or a set of plans, and you want someone experienced to say what is possible and what it will cost. Feasibility, budgeting, estimating, and design, so you know the numbers before you commit.
Planning services →When it is time to build, Blackbird runs it from permits to completion. Custom homes, commercial and tenant improvements, and multi-family. Built correctly, communicated clearly, with the budget protected.
Build services →Additions, whole-home renovations, basements, and outdoor space on a building that is already standing. Harder than new work, which is where experience shows.
Improve services →On your side of the table
You do not have to hire Blackbird as your general contractor to use the experience. Danny also works directly for owners: reviewing plans, checking contractor bids, analyzing budgets, watching change orders, and monitoring progress on site. For anyone making a large construction investment, it is another set of experienced eyes protecting the money.
